A Cultural Guide To The United Kingdom

By James Houston

This video demonstrates cultural icons that are traditionally considered to be associated with the UK. It highlights how the British society has been effected by different cultures. The objects are portrayed in heavily stylised vector drawings, as to show their apparent familiarity to UK residents. Children in immigrant families learn to integrate much quicker than the adults, and thus act as a conduit to the parents. This is shown in the film by using a child's voice as the narrator. Instead of being aimed at immigrants or migrant workers, this is a ‘cultural guide’ for every citizen of the United Kingdom; explaining that the UK has prospered as an effect foreign input. Therefore it is important that we should continue to be inspired by other cultures and to be open minded.
